Academic equivalence for Doctorate

 Royal Decree 967/2014, of 21 November   stipulates this procedure in clause 5 to substitute the recognition of the title of doctor.

This equivalence at the academic level of Doctor does not imply, under any circumstances, the validation, declaration of equivalence or recognition of any other foreign degree conferred on the student, nor the recognition by Spain of any level other than Doctor.

• Documents accompanying the application:

1. Certified copy of National ID card or Passport
2. Certified copy of Doctoral Degree
3. Certificate of results obtained and names of Committee members
4. Copy of doctoral thesis, with an official seal of the candidate’s home university
5. Explanatory note of the completed thesis
6. Official academic certification of all studies carried out toward completion of Doctorate degree
7. Proof of payment of fees              

Submitted documents must be authenticated diplomatically or, when appropriate, by the Hague Convention apostille. Under current legislation for certified copies, the authentication or apostile must appear on the original document prior to making any copies to be certified. This requirement does not apply to documents issued by the authorities of member states of the European Union or signatories of the Agreement on the European Economic Area.
